 Selena Quintanilla Perez (Spanish pronunciation"se'lena kinta'nija'peres; April 16, 1971 until March 31, 1995) was known by her mononym, Selena was an American Tejano singer. Selena was known as the "Queen Tejano music", her contributions to music and fashion have made her one of the most well-known entertainers from Mexico of all time. Billboard magazine placed her at third place in 2020 on their "Greatest Latino Artists List of All Time", which was inspired by Latin music as well as Latin albums. Because of her clothing choices, media outlets called her the Tejano Madonna. She also is among the most popular Latin musicians of all time , and has been credited with bringing the Tejano genre into the mainstream market.The youngest of the Quintanilla family, she made her debut in the music industry as a member of the band Selena y Los Dinos, which also included her elder siblings A.B.
