Zoe Saldana is the child of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Nazario. She was born in Passaic (New Jersey) on the 19th of June, 1978. Her mother and father have both been Puerto Ricans. Her parents raised her within Queens, New York. She and her family moved from Queens, NY, to the Dominican Republic when she was 10, and lived in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. While living there, Zoe discovered a keen interest in performance dance and enrolled in the prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy where she studied ballet and other forms of dance. The training she received was not just an excellent outlet for an energetic, eager child, but was also the ideal preparation for her future profession as an actor. Zoe's family and she returned to the United States when Zoe was 17 years old. She was a dancer with a passion and interest in performing on stage developed.
