Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarship, family service and involvement in the community. First of all Selmon was brought up with Lucious and Jessie Selmon on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as one of their nine children. Two football. He is among three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in all of the nation. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week while he attended college. Following college, he moved to Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was an all-pro three times before beginning a business career. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young men in the country. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He captained his college team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
